Sally Thomson

Sally lived in Norfolk, Sissinghurst and Sedlescombe before settling in Hawkhurst, taking over her parents’ house in the village. Working with a large company of architects in the area of industrial design she developed a keen interest in building design. While in Sissinghurst, Sally ran a B&B and in Sedlescombe was actively involved in running the local village hall.

She feels that while Hawkhurst has grown hugely it has a lot to offer – yet there is nowhere in the village for people to get together or hold large functions/events. Sally was one of the founder members of Hawkhurst U3A which has flourished to over 300 members – this clearly demonstrates the pressing need for a suitable building that will serve the many clubs and societies, for all age groups, as well as social functions.

Sally joined the Hawkhurst Community Trust 2018 to work towards that end: creating a fit-for-purpose community centre that will bring the village together.
