King George V pavilion and playing fields, Hawkhurst

Pop-up play!

We were delighted to be taking part in National PlayDay whose 2019 theme was Play Builds Children.  Held at the King George V playing fields, with lots of free activities from local organisations supporting HCT 2018 this was our first year of picnic and play.

The main thing was to come and play! Whatever the weather there was going to be lots of fun.  And many people did come along and enjoy the fun on what turned out to be a warm and sunny afternoon.

  • We had a noticeboard showing local resources and things to do in the area for families.
  • People were able to have their say on our graffiti wall on community facilities, and what they wanted to see in the new community centre.

Toilets and space to picnic were available.

Our event was helped by kind donation from The Thomas Iddenden Trust.

The Thomas Iddenden Trust is a village charity which was established in 1566 and to this day provides assistance to Hawkhurst residents or groups in need. Sums available for distribution are modest and are granted for specific purposes. Any Hawkhurst resident or group wishing to be considered for a grant should apply to Clerk of the Iddenden Trust by post or e-mail giving the reason for the request:
