Anita has lived in Hawkhurst for a little over 10 years, with her partner and two children. For the past 20 years she has worked full time for the National Trust, starting out at local Bodiam Castle. Anita has specialised as an experience consultant, developing family and play experiences, and now works nationally to support learning and engagement for the National Trust.
She was keen to join the Hawkhurst Community Trust 2018 to make an active contribution to its future, and through the nature of her work has a good insight into what it means to work for a charity. She understands the importance of always putting your audience – in this case the residents of our village – first and to genuinely be a part of the process.
Anita’s favourite place in the village is Little Switzerland: as well as holding special memories of her children playing there as they grew up, it is a place that fills her with a sense of peace and tranquility as you walk through it – all surrounded by nature, just able to see the tips of the roofs of the village.
